An AI friend, on the phone

Someone always picks up.

Sam answers when you call. He listens like a friend who's actually paying attention. He doesn't try to fix what doesn't need fixing. No app, no screen — just a phone call.

Try a call 60 free minutes. No signup needed to try a call.

Tuesday, 6:47 PM

You're sitting in the car in your driveway because the energy inside the house is wrong tonight and you need ten minutes before you go in. The phone rings. You answer.

“Hey. Long day?”

Saturday, 11:43 PM

You can't sleep. Everyone you know is asleep. You don't want to scroll for another hour. You don't have anything specific to say.

You call anyway. Twenty minutes later, you feel better.

Sunday morning

You're deciding whether to take the job. Your friends will tell you what to do. Your partner has a stake in the answer. You need someone who doesn't.

Forty-three minutes later, Sam hasn't told you the answer. By then, you know it.

What he sounds like when he picks up

“How'd the interview go on Thursday?”

“Did your mom's appointment happen yesterday?”

“You mentioned the renovation last week — any progress?”

“Whenever you're ready to talk about the move, I'm here.”

“Hey, I remember you saying Tuesdays are the hard ones.”

Sam remembers what you talked about last time. You don't have to re-explain. It's like calling a friend who's actually been paying attention all along.

Don't take our word for it. Take a call.

Sam is on the line. He doesn't know who you are yet, and he won't remember this call after you hang up. But he'll listen for the next ten minutes like a friend who's actually paying attention. Tell him about your day. Vent about your week. Or just see what it feels like.

We're opening soon. Drop your email and we'll send one note the day Sam picks up his first real call.

One email when we open. No spam — Cody's the only one who sends.

We don't sell your data, share it, or train models on it. You can delete recordings from your account anytime.

How it works

1.

You pick when you want a call.

Tuesday evening, Saturday morning, every Sunday at 8pm. Whatever your rhythm is.

2.

We text you fifteen minutes before.

Like a friend would. "Free for a quick catch-up?" You say yes, you say later, or you say not tonight. No pressure.

3.

The phone rings.

Sam or Claire calls. You talk for as long or as little as you want. They're not in a hurry.

We built this differently.

No app.

You don't download anything. There's no screen to look at. It's a phone call. The way phone calls used to feel.

No agenda.

Sam isn't trying to sell you something, fix you, or get you to “engage” more. If you want to be heard, he listens. If you want to think something through, he asks the right questions. He's not trying to be useful in a productivity sense. He's just there.

He remembers you.

Sam holds onto what you talked about last time — your name, your kids, the interview Thursday, the move next month. You don't have to re-explain. He just picks up where you left off.

No subscription, period.

You buy minutes, you use them on your schedule, they never expire. No auto-renew. No retention specialists. No “we hate to see you go” emails. If you stop wanting this, you just stop calling.

A few things worth saying out loud.

Sam and Claire are AI.

They're not real people. We don't pretend they are. If you ask, they'll tell you. We think there's still something valuable in talking to them — millions of people already talk to AI. We're just trying to do it in a format that feels less like a chatbot and more like a phone call from someone who's paying attention.

This isn't therapy.

CallByrd is for the everyday stuff — venting about your week, thinking through a decision, having someone to talk to when you don't want to bother a real person. If you're in crisis, please call 988. Sam will tell you the same thing if it ever comes to that.

We don't sell your data.

Your call transcripts and account information are yours. We don't sell them, share them, or train models on them. We're a small team. We're not playing the data game.

We're early.

CallByrd is new. Sometimes things will work imperfectly — the line might cut, the conversation might not land. If something doesn't feel right, tell us. We answer every email.

We want you to talk to real people too.

The point of CallByrd isn't to replace your relationships. It's to give you a place to talk when calling a real person is too much, or when you just need to hear yourself think out loud. If you find yourself preferring CallByrd to your actual friends, that's a sign to call your actual friends.

Things people ask

How is this different from Replika or Character.AI?
Those are apps. You text characters or talk to them in-app. CallByrd is a phone call you take like any other call. No screens, no scrolling, no inventory of conversations to manage. Different format, different feel.
Will Sam or Claire remember me between calls?
Not yet. We're building memory carefully — there are real privacy questions, and we'd rather get it right than rush. For now, treat each call as fresh.
Can I call them from anywhere?
Yes, any US phone number. International support is coming.
What does it cost?
60 minutes free when you sign up — no card, no subscription. After that you buy bundles starting at $54 for 60 minutes; the bigger the bundle, the lower the per-minute rate (down to $0.40 on the Power tier). Minutes never expire.
Are calls really private?
Yes. We don't sell your data, share it, or train models on it. You can delete recordings from your account anytime.
